Vaccine: Scientists have deciphered Corona

The corona virus is currently keeping the world in suspense. Scientists around the world are feverishly searching for a cure and an effective vaccine. Now Canadian scientists have made an important breakthrough in their search for a vaccine.

Toronto (Canada). Hundreds if not thousands of people around the world are infected every day with the novel corona virus, which the World Health Organization

(WHO) recently declared a pandemic. There are still no drugs against corona or an effective vaccine against the virus. Yet scientists from almost every country in the world are working feverishly on a cure. Experts estimate that a vaccine will not be available until late 2020 or early 2021 at the earliest.

However Canadian scientists have now made a hugely important breakthrough in the manufacture of a vaccine against corona. They were able to isolate the SARS-CoV-2 virus which carries the disease-causing properties of Covid-19 in the laboratory and breed a clone. With this copy of the virus vaccines drugs and other treatment methods can now be tested in a controlled manner.

Laboratories anywhere in the world can grow the virus

What is special is that the corona clone can be grown relatively easily in the laboratory. SARS-CoV-2 can now be researched in laboratories around the world. The samples from which the Canadian scientists were able to breed the clone they obtained from two Canadian patients who tested positive.

But even if the corona virus has now been deciphered the development of a vaccine will still take some time. The Robert Koch Institute explained the reason for this simply and well in one of its live broadcasts: A vaccine simply has to be sufficiently tested so that it does not harm people later. Although bureaucratic hurdles are being lowered worldwide in order to speed up the tests it still simply takes time.

First tests with corona drugs

In addition tests are currently running with various drugs including known agents against HIV and Ebola in order to be able to treat Corona quickly. The Robert Koch Institute will soon start three new drug studies in search of a cure for Corona one of which is particularly promising according to a spokesman for the Robert Koch Institute.
