Tesla Says “Yes”: Superchargers Should Be Usable For All Electric Cars

Transport Minister Scheuer made an appeal to the Tesla Group, trends of the future reported on it. Transport Minister-draengt-tesla-should-open-his-supercharger-for-all-electric-cars / The federal government wanted the supercharger stations to be opened for all e-cars, but Tesla preferred to keep its fast charging stations only for cars from its own production. There are already over 1,000 such energy filling stations in Germany, and an electric BMW i3, for example, would have to drive past each of them, no matter how urgently it needs fresh electricity.

Elon Musk: "We will open our superchargers"

The expansion of the German charging infrastructure continues and Tesla is known to step on the gas. It is important that the network meshes as closely as possible and is open to every vehicle so that no one has to shy away from buying an electric car for fear of getting stuck with it. The Tesla Group has now recognized the concerns of the German government, Elon Musk announced: "We will open our Supercharger network for other EVs later this year." which also includes enough quick petrol stations.

Tesla has a charging network with 25,000 chargers

Tesla's charging network already includes over 25,000 filling stations worldwide, which means that the group has taken a pioneering role in the field of fast charging stations. But the competition never sleeps, some providers enter into partnerships, others work with start-ups to expand their own networks. Now Tesla has understood to some extent that it is better for everyone to pull together in order to achieve a common goal. US President Joe Biden meanwhile approved a bill to invest $ 7.5 billion in charging stations and other electrical infrastructure for the traffic turnaround.

According to Statista, there were almost 24,000 charging stations in Germany in July 2021; at the beginning of 2020 we were still at 18,000. Around 6,000 more within a year and a half is not an impressive amount, but it is still a step forward.
